Taylor Swift took a major step in her career today with the reissue of her 2008 single, “Love Story.” The new version, which she recently re-recorded, will be owned entirely by Taylor and circumvent the 2019 purchase (and subsequent resale) of her masters.
“Love Story” peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US and was eventually certified 8x Platinum. It’s one of the biggest hits of her career, along with “Shake It Off” and “Blank Space.”
Swift is planning to release the re-recorded version of her entire Fearless album on April 9 of this year, including six bonus tracks from that era. She will eventually reissue all six of her Big Machine albums, from 2006’s Taylor Swift through 2017’s reputation.
