Artist

Ciaran McMeeken is a New Zealand singer-songwriter who began his musical journey at 11 years old by learning drums and guitar. The Arrowtown native didn’t originally end up pursuing a musical career, instead choosing to study in Dunedin.

In 2013, Ciaran spent most of his time working on a South Island farm in Owaka Valley. Six months into his tenure there, the owner of the farm asked Ciaran what he wanted to do with his life, to which Ciaran didn’t have an answer for, which led the owner to give the fateful advice of “just get on with it mate.”

From that point onwards, with the support of friends and family, Ciaran devoted his time towards a career in music. In 2014, he recorded his debut EP, The Valley, at that exact same farmhouse where he was given that fateful advice.

Ciaran then made the move to Auckland, where he is now based and records. In 2015, he released his second EP, Screaming Man to wide acclaim, and its lead single “City” was picked up nation-wide airplay in New Zealand.

While attending a European writing tour in conjunction with Sony and Imagem Publishing, Ciaran worked with multiple writers to hone and improve his songwriting skills, while creating a plethora of songs for future usage. In late 2016, thirteen tracks were chosen and recorded for Ciaran’s self-titled debut LP, which was released in late 2017.
