Kang Seulgi (강슬기), known mononymously as Seulgi (슬기) is a South Korean singer, dancer, and a member of the girl group Red Velvet.

In 2006, Seulgi auditioned for SM Entertainment before she began training in her first year of middle school one year later. On December 2, 2013, she joined a pre-debut team of trainees formed by the company called SMROOKIES and ultimately debuted as a member of Red Velvet on August 1, 2014, with the release of their first digital single, “Happiness”.

In April 2020, it was announced that Seulgi and her fellow Red Velvet member Irene will form into a sub-unit, the first one for the group. Their mini album, Monster came out on July 6. In addition, she hosted her own virtual show, Seulgi.zip, which aired between June 1 and November 25, 2021, on Naver NOW and by the end of the same year, she became a part of GOT the beat, a unit of SM’s supergroup Girls On Top, whose single “Step Back” was released on January 3, 2022.

Apart from her group’s projects, the idol appeared in numerous OSTs and collaborated with other artists, such as MAMAMOO’s Moon Byul, GOT7’s BamBam, SHINee’s Taemin and CHUNG HA, all since 2016 to this day.

On September 6, 2022, SM Entertainment confirmed to South Korean news outlets that Seulgi will make her official debut as a soloist, becoming the third Red Velvet member to do so, following Wendy and Joy with the release of her first mini-album, 28 Reasons, featuring the title track of the same name on October 4.
