The Pieces Of Shit are David Byrne, Will Oldham (aka Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy) and Michael Brunnock.
Byrne and Oldham began collaborating when Byrne was asked by director Paolo Sorrentino to write a soundtrack for his forthcoming film This Must Be The Place.
In the script Sorrentino cites Will Oldham as a musical touchstone for the character of young singer/songwriter so Byrne enlisted Oldham to collaborate on the demos that were to be produced by the singer/songwriter character.
The group, which isn’t a real actual group, features Oldham writing the lyrics, Byrne writing the music, and the Irish singer Michael Brunnock doing all the actual singing.
