Julien Christian Lutz (1975), better known as Director X or Little X, is a Canadian music video, films, television shows and commercials director. He has a clothing line, “X Fit”.
Director X has been noted for directing high-budget visually distinctive videos from popular artists, including Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Rhianna, Kanye West and others.
He has directed commercials for Apple Music and Ebay.
His trademark is tweaking the letterbox format. Instead of just using black bars on the top and bottom of the frame to frame the image, many videos by X actually feature the bars opening vertically or horizontally to reveal the video and closing vertically or horizontally at the end, like a letter box
In 2016 he won BET Awards 2016 Director of the Year.
