Born November 28th, 1959, Miki Matsubara was a Japanese composer, lyricist, and singer from Nishi-Ku, Sakai, Japan.

During her music career, she released 8 singles and 12 albums. Her breakthrough hit being “真夜中のドア / Stay with me” has been covered by multiple artist’s; and as of December 2020, has skyrocketed in popularity throughout social media. Matsubara at one point formed her own band called Dr Woo, in which she married the drummer, 本城真樹 (Maki Honjo).

At the end of the 2000s, Miki sent an e-mail out to all her band-mates, and record label and write that she would not be pursuing her music career any further. In 2001, Miki revealed to the public that she had been diagnosed with cancer, stating it was the main reason she quit music. She began treatment and for the following years and spent most of the time battling cancer. On 4 October 2004, Miki Matsubara passed at the age of 44 due to complications from uterine cervical cancer.
