DJ Scheme

Artist

Gabriel Guerra (born May 23, 1997), better known by his stage name DJ Scheme, is a well-known producer and former rapper from Palm Beach, Florida. He has worked with artists like Juice WRLD and Ski Mask the Slump God, and he was also a close friend of the late XXXTENTACION.

Scheme was always music-orientated as a child, from listening to the local Florida gangsta-rap genre to learning the drums and playing instruments for his school band.

He would start taking music serious with his friend Isaiah, who would go by the name Izzy Kill$. As a duo, the two named themselves wifisfuneral. They had quite a buzz in Florida, with co-signs from Denzel Curry and Pouya, who would later become close friends with Scheme and his entourage.

XXXTENTACION would play the biggest role in Scheme’s come-up sometime between 2014 and 2015, as X had sent a DM to wifisfuneral through Instagram promoting his music.

“So I have a DM from him, like 2015, he’s like– or 2014, he’s like "Hi, my name is Jahseh Onfroy, and this is my music. Can you please check it out?”

Ski Mask the Slump God, who would later become one of his best friends, also found the duo around this time, which is ironic as Ski and X wouldn’t have met yet.

Around this time, Scheme, Isaiah, X, and Ski would merge their collectives into what is now Members Only, led by X. Scheme is also considered a leader of Ski’s collective Very Rare.

Controversy was notoriety for the collective, as Scheme recalls X’s fights bringing the most attention to the music.

Scheme wouldn’t get into producing until 2019, being coached by Nuri, a then-not so known producer. With Nuri’s advice, he released Preseason EP, his three-track long, debut studio EP, the most popular of the three tracks being “How You Feel? (Freestyle).” The EP features vocals from Ski Mask the Slump God, Danny Towers, and Lil Yachty over Scheme’s instrumentals.

A year later, Scheme would release his collaborative debut studio album, FAMILY, on December 4, 2020. It featured a large variety of artists across its seventeen tracks, including Ski Mask the Slump God, Juice WRLD, Danny Towers, Skrillex, Joey Bada$$, among others.
