Sleepo, born and raised in Alexandria, La has been passionate about music since he can remember. Adopted at the age of two months, Sleepo was challenged to take on responsibilities from a young age to help provide for his adopted mom and younger brother. Always moved by many genres of music, Sleepo explains that musical content was his way of relieving the stresses that came with growing up so young. Some of Sleepo’s biggest musical influences are Lil' Boosie, 50 Cent, Z-Ro & Kevin Gates.
It wasn’t until late 2012 that Sleepo decided to give being an independent artist a try. After the release of his first remix to Chief Keefs' “Don’t like”, Sleepo began developing his fan base & falling in love with the grind that comes with being an indie artist. Dedicated to investing his money into his craft, he began consistently promoting himself and booking studio times with his minimum wage checks from Chuck E Cheese.
6 years later we find Sleepo consistently expanding his market, perusing all his own bookings for features, photo shoots, shows and other events to satisfy his rapidly growing fan base. To record one of his most prominent features “YRN ft. KYYNGG”, officially released on iTunes, Sleepo recently drove 11 hours to Atlanta, Georgia. Scammed by plenty of fakes and con artists in the last 6 years of being in this industry, nothing has stopped Sleepo from staying humble and dedicated to turning his dreams to reality.
When asked about some of his first plans after his big break, Sleepo replied “I would give all my thanks and praise to God for allowing me to make enough money to support & take care of my family. I would rebuild my city from the ground up and with emphasis on helping to change the lives of young kids. I look forward to being a voice in my city, hopefully stopping a lot of the violence and the murder. That’s what I would do.”
With his undefinable love for his music and fan base, Sleepo promises to be the most dedicated independent artist of 2019 to achieve some of his current goals and reach new levels in his career.
