Shirley Ann Lee was an American gospel singer and pianist. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, and started her career in gospel music at a young age. She was born at the tail-end of the Great Depression and grew up in a crowded house in Toledo, Ohio. She took her talent as a singer and pianist from there to a glamorous, gospel-fueled adolescence on the road and in Nashville.
