New Jersey-originating artist Jeremy Zucker and Connecticut-originating artist Chelsea Cutler first collaborated on “better off” for the former’s EP glisten, before collaborating on “Lonely Alone” for the latter’s mixtape Sleeping With Roses.

On April 19, 2019, the two released “you were good to me”, a single from their first collaborative EP brent, which was released on May 3, and performed it live in New York on May 15, with a recording being released on July 19. “you were good to me” was later included as a bonus track on the deluxe edition of Jeremy Zucker’s debut album, love is not dying, and as a song on Chelsea Cutler’s debut album, How To Be Human.

After that, the duo released “this is how you fall in love” on January 15, 2021, as the single from brent’s sequel, which was released on February 5. 5 days after brent ii’s release, the duo virtually performed the EP alongside previous songs, with its recording being released on May 5.
