One of the most successful American psychobilly bands of all time, Tiger Army formed in Berkeley, California, in 1996. The group is and was the brainchild of singer/guitarist/songwriter Nick 13, the lone constant across all five studio albums. Tiger Army is notable for Nick 13’s emo-leaning vocals and lyrics, which reveal the influence of Depeche Mode, The Smiths, and The Cure. This being psychobilly, the songs also deal with vampires and ghosts, but the songs are atypically sensitive and poetic. This is jacked-up rockabilly for people with feelings.
