DeeJay Ford

Artist

DeeJay Ford is a solo Hip-Hop artist and the owner of independent label Nerd Flow Music LLC. Defying a culture rooted in materialism and flashy imagery, DeeJay tends to stray from these stereotypes and performs in his own, unique way.
DeeJay was raised in Louisville, KY, but spent his formidable young adult years in Chicago. Having family and deeply planted roots in each city, he claims both are home.
DeeJay doesn’t go out of his way to create an imaginary image that carries the appealing qualities a stereotypical “rapper” is presumed to have. Quoted recently he says, “It’s a trip working in such a contradictory music genre. How do we measure success? The statement ‘Keep It Real’ is constantly overused by a handful of artists with music catalogues full of folklore. My definition of success has definitely evolved. I don’t write, perform or produce for fame, fortune or accolades. Success is simply the ability to be able to do what I love, which is create music, and inspire people. Words are powerful, and they can uplift, or they can kill the spirit. Words can start war, or bring peace.”
DeeJay gives many different artists credit for his inspiration, both musically and spiritually. Some of his biggest influences range from 2Pac to OutKast, Prince to Michael Jackson, and even rock groups like Nirvana and Led Zeppelin. “I just love good music created by talented artists of all genres.”
DeeJay delivers his wordplay in tandem, like perfectly fit puzzle pieces, while telling witty and compelling stories to a variety of hard hitting production, uniquely delivering it all without using any profanity. “My two biggest fans are my son and my daughter. I want to be able to encourage them, and other fans of all ages around the world. Hip-Hop isn’t a genre that parents can often enjoy with their kids. I want families to share my music, because there’s something special about that!”
