Artist

Lil Peep (b. November 1, 1996 – d. November 15, 2017), also known as Gustav Elijah Åhr, was an American rapper and singer-songwriter from Long Beach, Long Island, New York.

iLoveMakonnen (b. April 12, 1989), also known as Makonnen Kamali Sheran, is an American recording artist from South Los Angeles, CA.

During the summer of 2017, Lil Peep and iLoveMakonnen collaborated on an album named DIAMONDS. They worked on it extensively during that summer, and a significant portion of the project was completed. Unfortunately, on November 15, 2017, Lil Peep passed away due to an overdose while on his tour bus. This tragic event led to the postponement of the project for several years, even though most of it had been finished. Originally slated for release in 2019, the album never saw the light of day. In April 2020, the label reportedly scrapped the album, and during the same month, more than 20 songs from the project were leaked online.

Then, on August 30, 2023, to the surprise of many, it was announced that the long-awaited project would finally be released. The lead single, “November,” was dropped on September 1, 2023, and the full DIAMONDS album was released on September 8, 2023.
