ONUR

Artist

Hailing from London, ONUR does it all. At 23 years old, the British alternative R&B artist is not only a singer but also a songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist. Shared with the world for the first time in 2018, his sound can be described as broken beats, soulful chords and guitar fuzz, combined with yesterday’s dusty drums and tomorrow’s sounds and samples. With a falsetto reminiscent of Prince and intricate grooves not too dissimilar to Michael Jackson, ONUR is a hybrid of heroes that is pushing the envelope in the world of British R&B – a recipe that already brought him many fans, including in the music industry.

From the minute he burst onto the scene with his debut single ‘Beamin’ two years ago, he grabbed the attention of many media outlets and industry professionals, along with airplay on radios like KCRW and Reprezent. EARMILK, Konbini, Office Magazine, Acid Stag, Pause Musicale and EUPHORIA are amongst the very first blogs to have believed in his potential, while Martin Garrix added him on his Spotify playlist. ONUR also garnered early on the attention of labels such as Ninja Tune, Sony RCA, Universal Music, Atlantic, STMPD Records and so on, slowly solidifying his status of « artist to watch ». By the time his debut EP ‘A Millennial Rhapsody’ came along, he convinced Spotify to jump on the bandwagon, offering massive support to his single ‘Beautiful Time’. The project now counts over half of a million streams on the platform.

Since his latest single ‘What U Do’ unveiled in fall 2019, the attraction to ONUR’s music grew even bigger, landing him appearances on BBC Radio London and Hoxton Radio, as well as features on 1883 Magazine and Fred Perry’s Subculture. After a first sold out EP Launch in London in spring and a successful tour in the US, this new release was celebrated with another sold out headline show in the capital, at The Amersham Arms in November.

Even though the young artist only started producing two years ago, he is already making waves in the alternative R&B scene, establishing his unique, epic sound.
