William Patrick Spencer Gold (born September 14, 1996), known professionally as Wilbur Soot, is an English musician and online content creator. He was originally known for being a member and editor of the group YouTube channel SootHouse, but is now known for his own channel, Wilbur Soot, which contains music, vlogs, and gaming videos.

Gold has also edited for fellow English YouTuber, JackSucksAtLife, and was involved in an Alternate Reality Game (ARG) with him on the same channel.

Additionally, Gold has a personal music YouTube channel, which contains original songs and covers. Other sources of his music can be found on his main channel or from his past live streams on Twitch.

In December of 2019, Gold released Maybe I Was Boring, a small collection of songs, which he described as “a bunch of songs that weren’t good enough or didn’t fit the vibe of the EP.”

Later, in June of 2020, Gold released his debut EP, Your City Gave Me Asthma, which deals with topics like sickness, loneliness, and suicide. The EP’s title refers to Gold developing asthma while living in London.

Along with announcing the track “Your New Boyfriend” in December 2020, Gold stated that his “first serious lead-vocal band project” would be released in 2021, which turned out to be Lovejoy. They released their debut EP, Are You Alright? on May 10th, 2021, shortly followed by their second EP, Pebble Brain, with a cover of “Knee Deep at ATP” by Los Campesinos! in between.

The year of 2022 would see Lovejoy release a cover of “Privately Owned Spiral Galaxy” by Crywank and would also see Wilbur begin to release his own covers independently on a separate Spotify account to his main one.

Early 2023 saw the release of a new track from the band, “Call Me What You Like” which would go on to feature on their third EP, Wake Up & It’s Over.

In late 2023, Wilbur released the album Mammalian Sighing Reflex in a surprise release. It follows the same acoustic solo narrative as Your City Gave Me Asthma,.
