Artist

The Backseat Lovers are a four-piece indie rock band hailing from Salt Lake City. The group is made up of Josh Harmon (lead vocals/guitar), Jonas Swanson (lead guitar/vocals), KJ Ward (bass), and Juice Welch (drums).

Josh Harmon had heard of local drummer Juice Welch and approached him about starting a band. They began arranging songs right away. Soon after, at a failed open-mic night, Harmon met Jonas Swanson, who became the lead guitarist. At the band’s first meeting, Swanson brought along Ethan Christensen as a bass, and their first single, “Out of Tune”, was born from a song Harmon had written at age 16.

The band hit the studio in the spring of 2018, releasing a self-produced EP titled Elevator Days on June 3rd, 2018, and their first show followed the release by a few weeks.

In August of 2018, the Lovers began recording a record, described by lead vocalist Harmon as “a collection of songs that showcases the band’s writing chemistry on a whole new level.” The full-length LP was last scheduled to release in January of 2019.

Their major label debut album “Waiting to Spill” was released on October 28th, 2022.
