“One of the illest lyricists to ever spit on Shade45” – Sway Calloway

Los Angeles-born, Armenian-American rapper R-Mean is bringing word of his mountainous ancestral republic to one of our biggest cultural expressions of all: Hip-Hop. As the first rapper of Armenian descent to achieve his level of international and national acclaim, R-Mean is heading towards the ranks of his fellow Armenian icons System Of A Down and Kim Kardashian. His multi-cultural background and extensive fan base has afforded him multiple opportunities to perform around the world including Canada, Europe, and all over the United States. With a flow reminiscent of Nas and Eminem, influenced by his diverse upbringing, always staying true to real Hip-Hop, R-Mean breaks international barriers through his music like no other artist.

Born in Los Angeles, he was raised in Amsterdam by a single mother, after losing his father to an ill-timed death due to medical malpractice. Growing up he faced the dark challenges and oppression posed to minorities. Using college as a means of moving to California to pursue his musical dreams, he graduated from UCLA and went on to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Loma Linda University. During his schooling he continued recording and developing himself as an artist but chose to stop working as a pharmacist a couple years ago to instead heal people through music, not medication.

Known for his explosive Sway In The Morning freestyles, R-Mean has been featured as the opening act for Nas, Method Man, Raekwon, Immortal Technique, and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony just to name a few and has collaborated with artists like The Game, Joe Budden, and Too Short. In addition, he has headlined sold out concerts at notable venues like the House of Blues Sunset, Troubadour and the Mayan LA.

In July of 2015 R-Mean released his most ambitious album to date, 7 Deadly Sins, on Pentagon Records / Empire Distribution with brand new features from The Game, Crooked I, and King Los. A Kickstarter campaign to promote and pre-order the album was launched mid September 2014 and went on to be one of the top five most successful campaigns on Kickstarter for any Hip Hop artist to date.

In October 2016 he released the “Nas & Em” tribute mixtape with Dj Base, which has been extremely well received by fans and critics alike.
