Ramel Leroy Gill (b. October 18, 1973) is a rapper hailing from New York City known as Black Child. He gained recognition as a member of Irv Gotti’s Murder Inc. Records and for his collaborations with artists like Ja Rule and Ashanti.

Born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens, Black Child discovered his passion for rap at a young age when a family friend had wrote verses for him. Inspired by his surroundings and motivated by his family and friends, he started writing his own rhymes and honing his skills. Throughout his journey, Gill faced legal troubles, serving a 30-month jail sentence for a gun case. In 1993 he signed with JMJ Records.

While incarcerated he continued writing rhymes and participating in freestyle rap battles showcasing his talent. After his release he connected with Ja Rule and impressed him enough to get signed.

Black Child was involved in the notorious feud between Murder Inc. and G-Unit which resulted in a physical altercation at The Hit Factory recording studio in New York City in March 2000. Black Child claimed self-defense when he stabbed 50 Cent, asserting that 50 Cent had reached for a gun. In response, he released a diss track called “You da Wanksta” where he accused 50 Cent of being an informant and claimed that he also had sought a protective order against Murder Inc.
