Shaquan McLean, or more commonly known as Sick or Sick Ppl, isn’t new to the Toronto rap scene. Sick began rapping summer of 2012, but was seen in older music videos in 2010 by Marxmen Ent. Sick began blowing up in 2013 alongside the likes of Roney, YH, BananaClip, Ox or Ox Snap, Keelow, and TG or Top Gunna. This group of young artists was called DGC or Dnt Get Close–the next generation of rappers coming from Parma Court which was like a younger Marxmen Ent

On April 15 2017, Samatar Farah was identified was the homicide victim of a shooting in the Chester Lee Blvd neighbourhood. Later that year on June 22nd, eleven search warrants were executed in Toronto and Ottawa. As a result, Taufiq Stanley was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, three counts of attempted murder and a number of firearms-related charges. Trevor Barnett, was also arrested and charged with three counts of attempted murder. But two other men Alexander Fountain and Shaquan McLean a.k.a Sick were wanted in connection with the shooting. Shaquan McLean was later found by police when he reportedly flagged down a Toronto police car on November 5th, 2018 after being the victim of a shooting. Then in late July 2020, Alexander Fountain was found alongside another man, T'Quan Robertson a.k.a TG or Top Gunna, that was wanted by Toronto police for a shooting in a playground that made headlines in 2018 when two girls, aged five and nine, were wounded.
