James Critchley

Artist

James Critchley, originally from Colchester, England, started creating music during the 2020 lockdown. Frustrated by being stuck inside and having no creative outlet, he began producing music in his bedroom. This then became his debut single ‘Barbed Wire Tennis Court’.

‘Barbed Wire Tennis Court’, released in August 2020, showed influences from his favourite artists Lorde, The XX, Troye Sivan and Declan McKenna. James’ lyrics delicately explore issues faced by many people of his generation, with ‘Barbed Wire Tennis Court’ exploring the inequalities in society so sorely felt by Generation Z.
