Elijah Vincent Irvin (February 6, 2005 – November 3, 2022), better known by his rap name, Edot Babyy, was a 17-year-old rapper born and raised in Harlem, New York. Living in Harlem, Edot was surrounded by much gang activity daily, eventually finding himself affiliated with a Harlem gang known as “OY” or “Original Younginz".

At just 15 years old, Edot’s young talent of rapping was already gaining notable recognition—racking up hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube with songs like “Ready 4 War,” “Ride The O,” and “Ready 4 War Pt. 2”. From that point on, Edot’s consistency in dropping music, paired with a rapidly growing fanbase, would solidify him as one of the hottest new artists putting on for New York.

The 17-year-old rapper was also notorious for collaborating with friends like Sha EK, SugarHill Keem, and DD Osama, fellow young artists who were also on the come up in the New York rap scene. Mixing his talent with other notable artists made sure it wasn’t long before Edot became one of the most recognizable faces in New York.

On the evening of November 3, 2022, Edot was found in his home alone, unconscious, lying on the floor. EMS responders quickly rushed the 17-year-old to hospital but sadly, when he arrived, he was pronounced dead. The cause of death; was an alleged self-inflicted gunshot to the head. Edot’s death impacted many people tuned into the New York Drill scene; Even one of his oppositions, C Blu, expressed his condolences about his passing in an Instagram live-stream.
