Isocracy was a punk rock band from the East Bay in California, formed in 1986 and disbanded in 1988. Known for their wild live shows where audience members were often covered in garbage, Isocracy was an important band in the early history of 924 Gilman Street and Lookout! Records. The band’s two years of activity yielded only one major release: the 1988 Bedtime for Isocracy EP on Lookout!

The members of Isocracy would go on to play in other prominent bands. Most notably, drummer John Kiffmeyer (aka Al Sobrante) joined a young band called Sweet Children, who would later change their name to Green Day. Vocalist/songwriter Jason Beebout and bassist Martin Brohm formed Samiam in 1988, and late guitarist Lenny “Lenn Rokk” Johnson played in local fixtures Filth and Strychnine.
