Shihori Nakane writes and performs as SHIHORI (しほり) and is one of the most prominent young music creators from Japan today. In addition to composing and singing for movies, anime, games, and TV commercials she performs and records her own work. Dozens of her songs have made it into the Japanese hit chart, Oricon Chart, and for 11 of them, SHIHORI has received Gold Disc Certification, having sold more than 100,000 CDs.

Her life is a testament to perseverance, courage and overcoming apparent challenges. Born deaf in one ear and perfect pitch in the other SHIHORI serves as an inspiration to anyone who must overcome obstacles to express themselves through the arts. In her career in Japan she has written more than 100 songs for some of that country’s most famous contemporary artists, such as Nana Mizuki, Momoiro Clover Z, and Shoko Nakagawa.

Among her most famous and successful collaborations has been with Kohei Tanaka (composer of world-famous anime series “ONE PIECE”) and Yoko Kanno (composer of “Ghost In The Shell”).

SHIHORI has also been a frequent performer at venues in Asia and the US of A including the Otakon Festival at Baltimore, the Santa Fe JIN Festival, and the Japan Festival in Vietnam.

Her latest step toward fulfilling her goals began with her “Share the American Dream Project” in Feb. 2017, and culminated in her moving to New York City in January 2018.
