Starflyer 59 is a long-running musical project with one consistent member – Jason Martin, guitarist, lead vocalist and songwriter. A rotating cast of characters has filled out the lineup over the years, including Jeff Cloud, Frank Lenz, and Richard Swift. The current lineup consists of Martin, Trey Many on drums, and Steven Dail on bass. The band has been a studio-only project since their final show to date at the end of 2008.

The band’s sound has undergone many shifts and phases over the years, beginning as a shoegaze band in the vein of My Bloody Valentine or Lush and gradually traveling into brighter, more upbeat realms, incorporating guitar-based pop and new wave influences such as The Smiths, The Cure, The Church, and New Order.
