James Shay Mooney was born December 27, 1991. He was raised in Natural Dam, Arkansas. He attended Union Christian Academy in Fort Smith, AR and also attended Valley Forge Christian College for one year. Shay was in a relationship with country singer Veronica Ballestrini from 2011-2013. The singer/songwriter is one-half of the duo Dan+Shay.
