i5 was an American-based girl group formed in 2000, whose name stood for “International 5”. The group members consisted of Kate Macalino, Tal Hajek, Christina Rumbley, Andi Murphy McCormack, and Gaby Equiz, and together, these girls signed a record deal with Giant Records and became i5.

Before the group released their debut album, the group contributed to the soundtrack to the movie, Center Stage (2000).

By the summer of 2000, the group participated on Nickelodeon’s All That Music and More Tour, in which they promoted their debut and only single, “Distracted”. The group also became an opening act for *NSYNC on their No Strings Attached Tour.

In September 2000, i5 released their self-titled debut and only studio album, i5. However, the album failed to chart and was a commercial failure due to the label’s imminent folding, preventing the group from further promoting the album and releasing any more singles.

By the end of 2001, Giant Records folded, and the group no longer had a label. Although the members were hoping to find a new record label, they failed to find one, and the group went their separate ways.
