GHO$TBOY$ are a hip-hop underground rap group from Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia that was formed on 22nd June 2020, consists of four members that was founded by group founder and leader; Mohammad Fadzirull , known as Dope Sick Boy, formerly stylized as LiL FAD, and group co-founder; Kenneth Adam, known as Casey Awesome, formerly stylized as Ca$ey Awe$ome. It was later joined by Mohammad Nadir, known as Bolhan Nadir, formerly stylized as Nadir Tiger, and Fadzril Fattah.
The boys' discography ranges with various styles of Hip-Hop/Rap from Lo-Fi, Trap, Indie and Alternative Rap to Gangsta Rap, Emo Rap, Punk and Horrorcore Glitch-Trap—combining their lyrics with mixtures of local dialects, English and Bahasa Melayu ( Malay )/Bahasa Sarawak ( Sarawak Malay )—working with a blend of heavily-abrasive booming bass, gloomy-ominous atmospherics and drugged-out rhymes with their harsh lyrical content and themes prominently featuring substance abuse and suicidal ideation.
The meaning behind the rap collective, GHO$TBOY$, is about being dead inside that’s reflecting their mental illness, drug addictions, failed relationships and contemplations of suicide. It eventually took on a different meaning as they’ve started referring themselves as a group of outcasted misfits who’ve suffered from being abused; mentally, physically and emotionally, being bullied and even being misunderstood. Despite the judgements and criticism of others, they’ll still rise and strive to reach the top of the rap game by making a name for themselves and placing Kuching on the map in the hip-hop scene and the music industry.
They began releasing tracks in 2020, either in a collective collaboration or even amongst one of them, as shown in each of their own music too. The boys' layered their own dark and twisted raps over short but snappy verses, releasing singles along the way; such as “GHO$T BOY$” and “Just Another Bad Kid part 2” in 2020.
The boys' have gone from being unknown to becoming well-known in the underground rap scene ever since they’ve started dropping tracks frequently. They’ve even grew a whole lot; musically by developing creativity from experiences and literally by bonding closer as a group, even expanding each others own music by collaborating and supporting one another with help from the group. In 2021, shortly after the members had released the remaining tracks that they’ve collaborated on before, the rap group/collective, GHO$TBOY$ would be taking an indefinite hiatus and that all members would not be recording/performing together anytime soon as they would be taking their careers in different directions.
