DARK CHANELL is Laidback Luke’s techno alias/alter ego, where he releases “late 90s type of abstract and energetic” music.

In regards to the backstory behind this new techno venture, Luke exposes it all on his 2021 vlog about it:

DARK CHANELL is based on a super hero, and is actually based on a super hero design for a competition that I had about 10 years ago with Stan Lee and it was in this picture that I thought ‘I might just save this picture for later use’.

Despite being known nowadays for EDM songs, the dutch DJ and producer actually started out in the techno industry in the late 90’s and had its breakthrough the same year as Adam Beyer, UMEK and Marco Carola.

At the end of 2009 I started making techno tracks again […] under the working name of ‘Parallax’ […] Parallax was already heavily taken on Spotify, so I had to come up with some other artist name and what I really wanted in that name was the double L, as a reference to Laidback Luke.

Since its debut, in 2021, CHANELL already played in ‘high-profile’ clubs in the US scene, such as Club Space Miami and Soundcheck in Washington DC.
