“Planet Hip-Hop currently has representation from almost every nation on the planet, but few stand out as much as Brazil. Brazil boasts one of the hottest hip-hop scenes in the world while being better renowned for its domestic genres like samba, funk, carioca, forro, and tecnobrega. That is especially true in So Paulo’s pereferia, or huge urban fringes, where vivid graffiti covers every available surface and boom-bap beats rule the audio. Introducing our next big rapper, J.V from Brazil, here to boost the rap game for real. J.V started making music in 2020 and debuted his first single in 2021. J.V was influenced by NAV and Travis, so you can see a lot of influence in his music from these artists.

For his creative process, J.V just let the beat guide him; he did not like to force anything. J.V prefers to feel the surroundings and, depending on the vibe, he just feels the beat and freestyle mumbles to catch a flow. Once a flow is done, then he writes the lyrics to it. J.V came from Brazil to Canada when he was 15. His family came from humble beginnings, and his mother tried to give them a better life, so they immigrated here. J.V is eternally grateful to her for it, for the “"second chance”“ in life that she gave him. For his inspiration to make such good music, J.V is inspired by one of my best friends. His best friend, whose name is VSN, is just like a brother to him. He inspires J.V each day to be the best artist he can be. VSN, for him, is really the one who motivated him and pushed him to start writing and start doing business. J.V. would not be doing music if it weren’t for him.

In the future, we can expect J.V to proudly produce some good music that is sure to top the music charts. J.V has the aim of and wants to put Ottawa on the map. When people think Canada, they think Toronto, and J.V just wants to show the world what Ottawa can do really.

There’s so much talent that J.V wants the world to know about. That’s why, coming March, he wants to drop his first independent album with artists from all over the city of Ottawa to show people what this city can do!"
