Geffen Records is an American record label established by David Geffen in 1980. In 1990, the label’s distribution deal with Warner Records Inc. expired, and the label was sold to MCA Music Entertainment, which is now currently known as Universal Music Group (UMG). After a corporate reorganization in 1999, Geffen Records, A&M Records, and Interscope Records were merged to create Interscope Geffen A&M Records (IGA). IGA became an umbrella label owned by UMG that consisted of the three labels.
