Trey Skies

Artist

Trey Skies is a an American rapper and recording artist from Dallas, Texas. Trey began uploading music in early 2013 posting songs with his group “TrillSociety” on on the TrillPlayaTV YouTube channel. The earliest song from this era with Trey in it that’s available today is the song titled “Elevators”, it’s a remix of the song Elevators (Me & You) by OutKast.

In September of 2013, Trey would start uploading music to his SoundCloud account, the first song he uploaded to his account was titled “Sofa King Lyrical(\INTERLUDE)\,” later shortened to just “Sofa King” it was a remix of an MF DOOM song with the same name. Trey quickly gained popularly due to his complex writing and unorthodox flows, for example his song titled “MEMORY” released in October of 2014 blew up pretty quickly in the underground due to his use of a very complex beat produced by Manitee and his amazing flow and writing on the song. Following the release of his 2016 debut project, Death of Me, Trey created a second SoundCloud account under the name Water.wav, where he began posting additional songs, as well as re-uploading previously deleted songs such as “Greyscale” and “Majin.”

Trey is also a part of the SoundCloud collective known as Hidden Jewels which is where the “♢” symbol he often uses in song titles or his bios is from. The other members in this group include Seven, Braxton Knight, Negative, Manitee, GlimmerXP, John Mello, Nate Everest and Ozone. The group hasn’t been active for a couple of years.

For unknown reasons Trey went on a hiatus from the end of 2016 until mid 2020 when he returned with his song “ON-AIR”, which has since been deleted from SoundCloud but it remains on Spotify to this day. He has remained semi active since his return occasionally dropping music once or twice a year. As of April 2023, it seems Trey will be making a full return to music with a promising new sound and direction seen in his latest song “BlackStär☆”.
