noovy is a Taiwanese band that formed in 2014 under the name LOOKINGFOR. The quartet consisted of 楊尚融 (Shawn) (vocals, guitar, singer-songwriter, producer), 商鈞 (JK) (bassist, chorus), 王碩瀚 (Hank) (guitarist, chorus), and 王冠翔 (Mark (drummer).

The four would later audition for a program which would allow the winners to sign a contract with Sony Music and be active in both their native country of Taiwan, as well as neighboring Japan. LOOKINGFOR would eventually win the program, and would make their debut in Taiwan in September, and later began their activities in Japan in January of 2017 with 100 concerts in small venues. The group did not see much success until September, when they successfully sold 4,500 CDs – the CD being that of their first release “Lily”. With this success, came their major debut, which would take place one whole year after the band began activities there. With their major debut, the group made the change from LOOKINGFOR to noovy.

Between 2017 into 2018, the band consistently released both EPs, singles and albums, both in Taiwan and Japan, but, in 2019, member Hank would depart from the band, with his final release being “スピードアップ (Speed Up)”, which would be a theme song for an anime.

After Hank’s departure, in October of 2019, the band announced the addition of 羅加多 (Jacob), who was invited by 王冠翔 (Mark). Their first release with Jacob would be the single, and later EP titled 共感時代 Y_OURS.

After the release of 共感時代 Y_OURS, the band took a step back from activities. During this time, leader 楊尚融 (Shawn) began various solo activities, which include appearing on various TV programs, and writing songs for other artists, and eventually debuting as a soloist in Taiwan.

It would take two years for the band to make a return, with the EP 16588, with all songs featuring 歐陽娣娣 (Didi Ouyang); the release marked their return for the Taiwanese market, however it was still unforeseen whether the group would make their return in Japan.
