Longwave

Artist

Longwave formed in Brooklyn, New York, in 1999, amidst the resurgence of the local indie rock scene. While often compared to tour-mates the Strokes, the National, and Blue October, their distinctive sound has drawn diverse comparisons to genres such as shoegaze and Britpop.
The band came together with a style fully formed, and released their first record Endsongs within a year. On the heels of rave reviews and the music industry’s new awareness of the New York scene, the band was signed to RCA Records. Their follow-up album The Strangest Things, produced by Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev), arrived in 2003, to widespread acclaim.
Over the next two years, an EP (Life Of The Party) and LP (There’s A Fire) followed, the latter produced by John Leckie (Radiohead, XTC, and Stone Roses). Following major shakeups at RCA, Longwave subsequently returned to their indie roots, releasing their hard-rocking fourth album Secrets are Sinister via indie Original Signal Recordings in 2008, produced by John Katis (The National).
The band went on hiatus following the conclusion of their 2009 tour, but regrouped in 2018, playing new shows and recording their fifth and latest album. The LP of their efforts, If We Ever Live Forever, was released in October 2019.
