Rhys Thomas Sylvester (b. 2nd March 1992), professionally known as Mist (stylized as MIST), is a rapper hailing from Erdington, Birmingham in the Midlands.

Dropping freestyles in his teens from as far back as 2012, Mist took to rapping as nothing more than a hobby. After being released from prison in November 2015, he decided to take his career more seriously, in which his honesty and pain-ridden bars saw a massive influx in popularity, often cited as to have put Birmingham on the map in a major way.

Mist made his entrance on the scene in 2015 with freestyle videos such as his #1TAKE, Fire in the Booth and Behind Barz, following up with his single “Smokey” which brought him more attention.

It wasn’t until his June 2016 smash hit “Karla’s Back” where Mist finally became one to watch, racking up to 15million views on YouTube. Growing up in a predominantly Punjabi area, he developed a strong South Asian fanbase through the use of Punjab slang. He is also a close collaborator with London producers Steel Banglez and Sevaq. He dropped his debut EP M I S to the T in September 2016 to critical acclaim, charting at Number 75. Not long after, he was signed to Warner Records UK.

Mist secured top features in 2017 and 2018 including MoStack’s hit “Screw & Brew”, J Hus‘ track “Fisherman” and Chip’s single “Marijuana”. In February 2018, he dropped his sophomore EP Diamond in the Dirt which included stacked features from MoStack, Nines, Not3s and more. It received commercial and critical acclaim, debuting in the UK Album Charts at Number 5 and remained in the Top 40 for 6 weeks.

In 2019, Mist dropped his highly anticipated collaboration with West London’s Fredo, with their track “So High” which peaked at Number 7 on the UK Singles Charts, his highest charting single to-date. In August 2019, Mist was shot during an armed robbery in Portugal. Since then, Mist is reportedly working on his debut studio album, which has an unconfirmed release date.
