Artist

Simisola Bolatito Kosoko (Born April 1988), is a Nigerian singer commonly known as Simi. She is noted for her vocal talent and her in-depth lyrics.

Simi, like other Nigerian artists, began singing in their local church choir. But the real deal began when she published her debut album, Ogaju, which mainly mirrored her Christian life.

On June 9, 2014, she shot to fame with the release of “Tiff,” a song praised by music reviewers and nominated for Best Alternative Song at The Headies. This accomplishment resulted in the release of her first studio album, Simisola, in 2017.

Between 2017 and 2020, Simi spent the better part of her career managing her musical career by establishing her own record label, signing partnerships with Platoon, and releasing hit singles such as “Jamb Question,” “Love Don’t Care,” and “Smile For Me,” which some of them led to the publication of her two studio albums, Omo Charlie Champagne Vol. 1 and RESTLESS II in 2019 and 2020, respectively. She also spent two years juggling her fulfilling love life where she married Adekunle Gold in 2019 as well as working as an actress, appearing in Kunle Afolayan’s film, Mokalik.

On April 16, 2020, she returned to the music scene with “Duduke,” a song devoted to her unborn child and other moms who are hoping to become mothers as well. “Duduke” was able to garner good feedback from fans, particularly on Tik Tok, where individuals created challenges based on the song.

She released her fifth studio album, To Be Honest, on June 3, 2022, preceded by her May 2022 single, “Naked Wire.” The idea of the album saw her speak about vulnerability, as well as her life experiences.

Simi is a prominent figure in the development of the new Afrobeats scene, having dominated international music charts and received several awards during her career, including The Headies for Best Collab in 2017 and 2021 as well as The Headies for Best Writer with “Duduke” in 2021.
