Taha Othman Ahmad (born January 1, 2000), professionally known as Odetari, is a Palestinian-American rapper, producer, and songwriter from Houston, Texas. His stage name is a combination of his family name, Odeh, and the name of the video game developer Atari.
He began his career in 2016 alongside his debut album Odetari BEATS, although started producing in 2014 when he was just 14 years old. Odetari self-released his debut single, “3322”, in September of 2017. He is best known for his famous song “NARCISSISTIC PERSONALITY DISORDER”, which deals with difficulties of being self-absorbed and unable to feel emotions deeply.
Odetari’s music has been described as Electronic Dance Music or EDM*, many of his songs specifically falling under East Coast club music (Baltimore/B-more, Philly, and Jersey). Odetari has described his soundscape as “final boss music”. Ethan Shanfeld of Variety wrote that his songs combine “pitched-up rap hooks, glitchy trap flare and menacing club beats” and are “tailored to a young, overstimulated audience” due to their short length. Katie Bain wrote for Billboard that his music was “hectic and woozy and strange, altogether giving a feeling like being at a rave happening inside the internet”.
On December 31st, 2023, Odetari posted an Instagram Story stating that he was going to turn 24 the day after the post, meaning that he was born on January 1st, 2000. He shares the same birthday as Ice Spice, which fact might connect to why Odetari released the song “ICE SPICE HMU”.
On July 12, 2023, Odetari would release 3x3 with producer 9lives. The project’s pre-release single, “REASSURE ME”, was released on June 6, 2023.
Odetari would go on to release the highly anticipated XIII SORROWS, an eight-track EP with three features, on September 13, 2023, after four popular singles; “GOOD LOYAL THOTS”, “NARCISSISTIC PERSONALITY DISORDER”, “LOOK DON’T TOUCH” with Cade Clair, and finally “GMFU” with 6arelyhuman. On December 6, 2023, Odetari would go on to release his second EP called DOOR TO DUSK, including ten tracks and one bonus. Right after releasing the official track list for the EP on November 30, 2023, he stated in the caption that he would release his first-ever album in early 2024.
Odetari had disclosed on TikTok that he suffers from three personality disorders. In response to a question regarding the video he made, Tari discussed how his song “NARCISSISTIC PERSONALITY DISORDER” refers to his experience, dealing with Narcissistic Personality Disorder or NPD and he also discussed how his song BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER also refers to him suffering from Borderline Personality Disorder or BPD.
