Formed in London in 1958, the Dave Clark Five came up at the same time as The Beatles and were initially considered London-based rivals to the Liverpool quartet. They had great commercial success as part of the British Invasion, with 17 Top 40 hits on the US Billboard chart. Classic members of the group were Dave Clark, Mike Smith, Lenny Davidson, Rick Huxley, and Denis Payton.
