Persefone is a progressive death metal band formed in 2001 in Andorra. The name of the band comes from “Persephone”, a deity in Greek mythology, whose story is even treated in their second album, Core.
The guitarist Carlos Lozano and the bassist Toni Mestre are the founding members who’ve remained in the band since its origin and, after starting out as a death metal band, they’re entering more and more in the progressive scene collaborating with noteworthy artists of the same genre, such as guitarist Øystein Landsverk from Leprous, violinist-singer Tim Charles of Ne Obliviscaris and guitarist Paul Masvidal of Death.
The begun to gain notoriety with their third album, Shin-Ken, a concept album more oriented towards oriental sounds, followed by Spiritual Migration and Aathma, two fully successful progressive metal projects.
Their latest single release is In Lak’Ech, published on 22 February 2018.
