During her time in Fin.K.L, she released a solo album titled Stylish in August of 2003 and would continue her career as a solo artist after the disbandment of her group in 2005 (though on September 22, 2019, after more than ten years since the group’s disbandment, Fin.K.L returned with the single “남아있는 노래처럼 (Just Like The Song That Remains)”). The album sold more than 100,000 copies in the country, and the lead single “10 Minutes” became her signature hit and swept the Daesang Awards, winning her seven – three of which of were the most prestigious.

Lee expanded her career in the entertainment industry, debuting as an actress in the 2005 drama 세잎클로버 (3 Leaf Clover), starring alongside Im Ryu Jin (류진) and Kim Kang Woo (김강우). However, the drama received poor ratings and reviews stating that Lee was a miscast in the drama.

Three years after her solo debut album Hyori released a follow up album titled Dark Angel in February 2006. She would continue to release new music and do a myriad of other activities, including hosting television programs and acting until her hiatus in 2015, which was announced on her blog and her Twitter account. The hiatus followed the expiration of her contract with B2M Entertainment two years prior.

In May of 2020, it was reported that Lee had signed a contract with the ESteem Entertainment – a fashion and retail subsidiary of SM Entertainment. She had also joined the temporary new project group called SSAK3 (싹쓰리), alongside fellow K-pop star Bi Rain and the nation’s MC Yoo Jae Suk.
