Toofan

Artist

Founded in 2005 by Master Just and Barabas, Toofan is a musical group from Togo now recognized throughout Africa and the world by their musical style and their dancing concept.
Initially a trio with the artist AllOne their first song entitled “EPERVIER OGBRAGADA" became the victory anthem of Togo’s national football team qualified for the African Cup of Nations in Egypt and the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

In December 2006, the group released its second album entitled CONFIRMATION, creating a unique rhythm of funk, reggae R & B and hip hop. The group began their first international tour throughout West Africa and Europe. Shortly following the tour, All One left the group to pursue a solo career.

Since then, Toofan continues to chain hits and successes until now. Indeed the year 2013 was their consecration. With their dancing concepts: ‘’ COOL-CATCHE'‘ a dance of the group which in itself seems simple, but it is about a mixture of movements of the neck accompanied by a presentation of the feet opposite to the logic imposed by the neck movements. This concept was the subject of a report by France 24 as Summer Hit. This dance goes with their song “CE MAGIK” (February 2013) and “GWETA” another dance of the group whose gesture’s concept is to “dodge the jealous” that goes with their song “Gweta” (August 2013). After their second international tour, the group returns with the new hits: “Téré Téré” (November 2016) a song of good vibes with a new dance of the same name which starts from the concept of “bury his problems” which made the joy of many public here and elsewhere.

In 2010, the duo won the “Kundés d'or” award in the Best Western Artist category in front of DJ ARAFAT artists from Ivory coast and Sydney from GHANA. In October 2012, the sons of Tokoin Seminary (Lomé district) had a UN recognition: Masta Just and Barabas were named UNICEF messengers in Togo for “Hand washing, a saving gesture”. TOOFAN won the Best West African Song Award with the title “Cé magik” at the 2011 edition of the online African Music Awards, which took place on September 24 in New York. In 2014, nominated for the MTV Music Awards, TOOFAN was awarded the trophy for Best Francophone Artists 2013-2014.

Dubbed the son of the wind, in 2017, Toofan triumphed at the AFRIMA AWARDS with the “Best Artist or West African Group” and “Best African Pop Group.” The following year (2018), the sons of the the wind grabbed two major trophies (“Best African Goup” and “Best French Artist”) in front of African stars such as Mafikizolo (South Africa), Faly Ipupa (Congo), DJ Arafat (Ivory Coast) and Master Gims (Congo) with their album CONQUISTADORS.
