The I.L.Y.’s

Artist

The I.L.Y.’s are an experimental punk and garage rock band consisting of Zach Hill and Andy Morin, two members of the experimental hip-hop group Death Grips. Their music is characterized by lo-fi production, understated vocals, and quirky synthetic sounds.

Their first album, I’ve Always Been Good At True Love, came as a complete surprise when they released it on the Death Grips YouTube channel in June of 2015. As Zach and Andy had provided no information about the side project beforehand, many fans thought The I.L.Y.’s were a completely separate band and were perplexed by music so far removed from Death Grips' sound.

Scum with Boundaries arrived in July of 2016, another surprise record that followed closely behind the Death Grips album Bottomless Pit. It shed some of the lo-fi qualities of the previous album, and delved deeper into the band’s electronic influences.
