Kim Seokjin (김석진), known by his stage name, Jin (진), was born on December 4, 1992, in Anyang, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. He’s a vocalist, songwriter, and the member of the South Korean pop group, BTS.

Jin joined Big Hit Entertainment in 2011. He was approached by a talent scout shortly after completing orientation at university where he planned to study acting. He officially debuted with BTS in 2013.

In 2017 Jin graduated Konkuk University in Seoul with a bachelor’s degree in Film. Shortly after, he enrolled in the graduate studies program at Hanyang Cyber University.

Through the years in BTS, Jin also took part in songwriting process. He co-created, among others, “AWAKE,” “Love Is Not Over,” “Moon,” and “Stay.” He is credited officially as a writer and composer of over 15 songs on Korea Music Copyright Association — KOMCA (10005243).

During BTS anniversary celebration in 2019, Jin released his first own solo song—“이 밤 (Tonight/This Night)”. A year later, just before his 28th birthday, he released his second solo song, “Abyss,” as a birthday present to fans.

Outside the BTS, Jin also performed songs for Korean tv dramas—“죽어도 너야 (It’s Definitely You)” (a part of OST to Hwarang) and “Yours” (a part of OST to Jirisan).

Along with the other members of BTS, Jin was awarded the fifth-class Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit by the President of South Korea for the contribution to Korean culture. Also, as a part of BTS, he gave speech at the United Nations General Assembly in 2020, as well as in 2021.
