Ella Mai Howell (born November 3, 1994) is a British R&B singer and songwriter from Surrey, England. While enrolled at the British and Irish Modern Music Institute in 2014, Mai auditioned for The X-Factor as a part of a trio.

From 2015 to 2017, Ella released four EP’s, Troubled, Time, Change, and Ready. The three latest EP’s were released through Mustard’s record label, 10 Summers Records.

In 2018, Ella Mai released her self titled debut studio album, Ella Mai which debuted at #1 on the US R&B charts. The album included features from R&B artists such as Chris Brown, John Legend, and H.E.R.

Almost four years later, in May 2022, Ella released her sophomore studio album, Heart On My Sleeve which featured hit singles such as “Not Another Love Song,” and “DFMU.”
