Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26, 1991), known professionally as Ari Lennox, is an American singer and songwriter from Washington, D.C.

Lennox is the first woman to sign to J. Cole’s Dreamville Records. Prior to this, Ari assisted Omen on “Sweat It Out” for his Elephant Eyes project. Later Ari landed herself on Dreamville’s collective project Revenge of The Dreamers II, creating a song with her label mate Cozz titled “Back Seat.”

Before she was signed to Dreamville, Ari released her debut mixtape, Five Finger Discount in 2012, and later in 2013, she released her collective project titled Ariography. After her signing, she released her debut to the label in 2016 with the EP, PHO.

Ari’s long-awaited debut album, Shea Butter Baby, was released the on May 7, 2019.
