Omar Jeffery Pineiro (born May 15, 1997), known professionally as Smokepurpp, is an American rapper and producer from Miami-Dade County, Florida.

He was first born in Chicago, Illinois, but his family moved to Florida when he was 3. He started as a producer and video editor before pursuing a rap career, a hobby he picked up due to his boredom. Purpp would then start to rap due to the lack of people buying his beats.

His earliest songs on SoundCloud date back to July 2015. Smokepurpp dropped his debut EP, Lick $eason, in October 2015. It was followed up with a sequel the following year. Collaborators included fellow Miami rappers XXXTENTACION and his friend and close collaborator Lil Pump. Purpp then drop out of high school due to his budding music career.

In March 2017, Smokepurpp announced his debut mixtape, Deadstar, which would eventually be delayed to a release on September 29 That same month, he signed a joint venture with Alamo Records and Interscope Records. With star-studded features from Travis Scott, Juicy J, and Yo Gotti, the project debuted at #42 on the Billboard 200. Prior to Deadstar’s release, Purpp released the standout single “Audi,” to which it would blow up in the SoundCloud rap scene and would gain massive attraction.

In 2018, Smokepurpp dropped a collaborative project with Murda Beatz titled Bless Yo Trap.

In 2019, Smokepurpp released his long-awaited debut album Deadstar 2, with features from Denzel Curry, Trippie Redd, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Skies, Moneybagg Yo, and Lil Pump.
