When Rich first started rapping, his first rap name was Black Boy Da Kid, however he later changed it as to what it is now. From 2010 to 2012 as Black Boy Da Kid, Rich released four mixtapes from his Cut The Check series to his debut mixtape, Da Kids Playground. Since his name change in 2013, he released Been About the Benjamins and later would release two collaborative mixtapes with the Migos titled Streets On Lock, volumes one and two. From there, he would continue to release a slew of mixtapes that includes Feels Good 2 Be Rich and Dabbin Fever, to which he worked with a wide variety of artists to which it includes Young Thug, Ty Dolla $ign, Kodak Black, and many more.

In March 2016 he started his own label: Rich Forever Music. His first signees to the label were close friend and collaborator Famous Dex, producer TheLabCook, and J $tash. From there, Rich would release the label’s first compilation album, Rich Forever, to which it included not only the Migos, to which Rich was still affiliated with at the time, but also at the time newcomer Lil Yachty and OG Maco. Shortly after the release of Rich Forever, J $tash parted ways with the label. Shortly after, Jay Critch would soon sign to Rich Forever. In June 2016, Rich would go on to sign a record deal with 300 Entertainment, becoming a parent company for Rich Forever Music. He would later sign Almighty Jay to the label, but quickly left due to a fall out with Rich, going as far as to claiming that he was never signed to Rich Forever.

Although he was signed to 300 Entertainment with Rich Forever, on June 9, 2017, Rich announced on social media that he had signed to Interscope, to which he explained his decision on signing with them stating:

I was talking to different labels, Columbia, RCA, Epic, I decided not to sign with Epic even after L.A. Reid offered me a crazy deal. [Senior Vice President of A&R at Interscope] Manny Smith & Interscope CEO John Janick understand me and my vision for myself and also my label. Interscope gave me the opportunity to take over the game completely and that’s what I’m going to do.

Shortly after, Rich would release the single “New Freezer,” to which it would feature none other than Kendrick Lamar, to which it was an immediate smash hit. Following up that single, in February 2018, Rich would release “Plug Walk,” to which it also was a smash hit. On March 30, 2018, Rich the Kid would release his debut studio album, The World Is Yours. Thanks to both “New Freezer” and “Plug Walk,” the album became an immediate success, to which it debuted and peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200.

Rich would follow up his smash hit album with the official sequel, The World Is Yours 2, released on March 22, 2019. Like with it’s predecessor, the album also became a smash hit, debuting at #4 on the Billboard 200. At the end of the year, Rich announced that he would be departing from Interscope and instead would sign to Republic Records, while still remaining under Universal Music Group’s umbrella.

Rich’s third studio album, BOSS MAN, would be his only release under Republic on March 13, 2020. Unlike both The World Is Yours albums, the album would under perform, as it debuted at #24 on the Billboard 200. Shortly after, Rich would departure with Republic and would sign to EMPIRE Distribution and would release his collaborative project with YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Nobody Safe.

Entering into 2021, Rich would go on to release Lucky 7 on January 29, serving as his second and final major release under EMPIRE. He would go on to leave EMPIRE and would instead sign a multi-million dollar deal with Rostrum Records. Ending off the year, Rich would go on to collaborate with Lil Wayne himself to release the Trust Fund Babies project.

In November 2022, going through many record label deals. once again it was announced that Rich was signed to RCA Records. The following year, Rich would go on to collaborate with Kanye West, Ty Dolla $ign, and longtime collaborator Playboi Carti on the track “CARNIVAL,” in which the track made its debut before on December 15, 2023, but was updated on February 8, 2024 to include Carti, during the Vultures listening event. The song would go on to debut at #3 and peak at #1 on the Billboard 200, marking this Rich’s highest charting to date since 2018’s “Plug Walk.”
