Rappin' 4-Tay is a Bay Area rapper representing San Francisco’s Fillmore District. Born Anthony Forté on March 2, 1968, 4-Tay made his debut in 1988 on Too $hort’s track “Don’t Fight the Feelin'” from $hort’s album Life is…Too $hort. After spending ten months in jail on drug charges, 4-Tay released his debut album Rappin' 4-Tay is Back in 1991 on his own Rag Top Records imprint. His breakthrough sophomore album, Don’t Fight the Feelin', was released in 1994 and includes his two biggest hits: “Playaz Club” and “I’ll Be Around,” which were both Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Rappin' 4-Tay was a member of the group T.W.D.Y. (The Whole Damn Yay) with Ant Banks and Captain Save ‘Em for the group’s 1999 debut album Derty Werk featuring the hit single “Players Holiday.” 4-Tay was involved in a conflict with rapper Drake after he lifted some lyrics from “Playaz Club” for YG’s 2019 single “Who Do You Love?” but the matter was settled. Rappin’ 4-Tay has released several albums independently in his decades-long career.
