NLW

Artist

Afrojack’s first moniker, NLW is the underground side of Nick van de Wall – where he also got the alias name from. Through NLW, Afrojack has released everything – From big room bangers like “Around The World (with KIIDA & Aspyer)” and “Daft Ragga”, to tracks that reminds us of the dutch house he once was known for, with “Yeah” and Party.

The inspiration for a new name came from Diplo, for it’s connections with Major Lazer and Jack Ü, he said on an interview for Music Times. Bringing NLW to life was a way to release all kinds of genres of music that didn’t fit the “Afrojack Idea”.

NLW and DJ Afrojack is sort of the same thing, but I want to make a clear distinction of where I base my records. When I do an Afrojack record I want something that works in the club, but also on the radio. When I do a DJ Afrojack track, that’s going to make people who hear it on the radio turn their radio off as they say, “What the hell is this crazy noise coming through my radio?!”

— Afrojack shared on an interview for 1001Tracklists.
