Nu Lighter hails from Raleigh, North Carolina. He acquired a diverse music taste there, and incorporates that into his sound.
He began singing at an early age, but started writing, producing ,and engineering his own music during his teen years. At the age of 9, Lighter started taking music seriously once his biological father was sentenced to almost 20 years in prison.
