Jonathan Kweku Awote-Mensah, who is professionally known as JAE5, is a Grammy Award winning producer hailing from Plaistow, East London and is signed to Black Butter Records.

Being a product of a renowned youth development scheme known as Ape Media based in Stratford, under the tuition of their facilities, he developed a dormant ability to compose and arrange music as well as manipulate sound frequencies but no one was prepared for how quickly he would transform in to the super producer he is today.

Originally being a part of the producer group JOAT Music Group alongside his uncle Blemish and Randy Valentine, it was when the group went on to work with East London rapper J Hus where they started gaining notoriety – executively producing his debut mixtape The 15th Day to widespread acclaim.

Not long after, JAE5 decided to branch out on his own as a producer, continuing to executively produce for J Hus – earning his stripes as one, if not the, best producer in the UK through his work on Hus' tide-shifting albums Common Sense and Big Conspiracy. His producing credits earned him accolades such as the GRM Rated Awards and MOBO Awards for Best Producer. He is also known for his works with NSG – with Kruddz & OGD being his younger brothers.

JAE5 has respectively produced some of the UK’s biggest anthems such as Dave’s hit-single “Location”, NSG’s smash-hit “Options” and Shakka’s single “Man Down”. He also ventured outside of the UK to work with some big names such as Mark Ronson and Burna Boy – the latter in which saw him collect a Grammy Award through the work he did on the track “Bank On It” from Burna’s 2020 album Twice As Tall.

He is now embarking on his own debut studio album.
